Enrolling @ NU Tax LL.M.

Quietus

Orientation is Aug 26-27 for the tax program. Before then, is anyone who is enrolling reading this? I'd like to know:

1. what people think of taking 6 classes. Is the level of detail commensurate with the 2 credit hours for each class in the required introductory courses for the first semester? I assume the detail will pick up for the "advanced" portion in the Spring, but how fast paced will the first semester be?

2. doing a research paper, and

3. applying for jobs (accounting v. law firm, Midwest v. East Coast, etc.)

Thanks!

1. I would recommend only taking 5 classes. Why overburden yourself. Employers arent going to care that you took 1 additional class; they will however care about your GPA.

2. A research paper about a hot area of law may be a great way for you to get your foot in the door.

3. Given that you go to NW...your best shot of getting a good job is in Chicago.

Best of luck
