Hi Ashita,

My answer is "it's just up to you", that is, you put enphasis on which factor, location or ranking (or cost).

Anyway, I think we should not believe US news ranking too much because its law school ranking is just about JD's and it seems difficult to scale LL.M program.
As such, I choose Fordham because of its location though there are other law schools which gave me an admission and are ranked higher (close to Emory) than Fordham.

For me, NYC seems very attractive with various opportunities on/off campus.

I hope my comment help your decision.

Hi Ashita,

First of all, congratulations on getting into some great programs!

Coming from someone has did not attend Fordham, Emory, or Penn St., you may consider my advice for what it is worth...

It would help if we knew a little more about your situation, because both Emory and Fordham have their individual strengths. Do you have a preference where you work after school? I would say that Emory has the stronger academic reputation; you might keep that in mind if you want to teach. Additionally, Emory is the dominant law school in the Atlanta area, and probably has more prestige within the South. Fordham, on the other hand, has a great location if you want to work in New York, is nationally known, and is a regional school in the Northeast. However, as a caveat, it is not as prestigious a school as Columbia or New York University, so those schools, as well as many other national schools, may make it that much more difficult to enter the job market in New York coming from Fordham. However, New York is a huge job market, so there is still room for competitive Fordham grads. If you can land a good job or internship while still in school, even better.

Finally, I do not know what your undergraduate law background is; if you did not graduate from an ABA-accredited law school in the U.S., then you might not be eligible to sit for the bar in several states, possibly including Georgia. This is not the case in New York, though.

Ultimately, how well you do in the job market will depend on luck, timing, and determination on your part much more so than which of those two schools you attended; they are both solid schools, and great choices, either way. Good luck!
