I am a student from India and would like to defer my admission by an year, so as to gather some finances.

Could anyone please suggest some tried ground for deferment.
Moreover, one of the conditions of deferment is that you do not apply to any other University. Would they really get to know if I do apply to another University.

I have to notify them of my decision by April 1, so any advise would be welcome.

employment obligations; personal hardship (finance, family, etc); military duty; denied visa; medical emergency; legal liability; criminal conviction; clinical depression, etc.
