Hi guys, I've just placed on the waitlist.
Since Columbia is my first choice, I would like to know what are the chances of being finally admitted in the program. It would be great if you could share some personal experiences about that too.
Anyway, I would be grateful for any help you are able to provide. -

Hi lml,
I don't know about the chances. What I can share is: while Columbia is high on my preference list, I received my offer of admission several weeks ago but haven't received news about financial aid. If I don't hear soon, I'd need to politely decline their offer in favour of Harvard (which has offered scholarship) or Chicago.
Certainly, there'd be several other admitted students who would be declining offers in the coming few weeks. What you should know is that deadlines for accepting offers are now near (for ex. April 1 for Chicago, mid-April for Berkeley, Harvard, etc.) which should see admitted students decide on their choice of schools. They will be figuring out which school is more affordable, or suitable for their interests, etc.
So, if you've made it this far - hang in there.

The first deposit deadline falls one April 11.
Guess there will be some vacancies open again then.
Good luck!
