Hey I think these ppl are going to Columbia in NYC. Your group mentions Columbia in Washington DC!!!
I just looked at the FB page. I read it to mean that the host, George, is in Washington DC (also see the host's email address). Columbia University is in NY.
I think the host should change their location or the location should not be displayed

Or we just say "thank you" to the host for creating the group and enter it. Since we all know that the host is in DC but CLS is not, we might get over this fact;-)

Really? I think the site is perfectly clear, there's no ambiquity at all. Join the site hosted by someone in DC and show up to school in NY. I think it is great that the site was set up at all.

Yea but it's possible to opt out of the class by taking an exam.

Why would anyone want to opt out? It's a reason to get to CLS earlier! Is it a really boring programme? Actually even if it is uninspiring rubbish, I'm looking forwrad to going back to Uni!

Well I am from a quasi-common law jurisdiction, and the course material was more about common law techniques (plus basic overview of US law) so I opted out. Further, the class is worth 3 points, and that's 3 points that I used instead to study something that I'm more interested in, so I got to take five classes, instead of just four. Anyway even if you opt out, you can attend the lectures; it just means you don't take the exam.

Just two points. First, it's not actually mandatory for students with a civil law background. A German classmate of mine took the opt out exam and didn't have to take the course. Second, apart from those two exams, students who take CIAL will need to submit other writing assignments, like memos, research papers.
