Hi everyone,
this week I've been admitted by Boston University (American Law Programm), including a very substantial scholarship amount. BU's acceptance deadline is Feb. 1, '07, as can also be read in other postings here. There's a high likelihood that I'll accept the offer, which means to waive some other admissions and to cancel some other applications in case I don't receive the respective decisions early enough. I probably won't ask BU for an extension of the deadline.
I'm a German jurist, 27, and just want to find out here about some other BU prospectives who are admitted or already determined to attend BU.
Perhaps a little conversation can ease our decision-making.

You shouldn't be shy about emailing their graduate office directly and ask to speak to present LLMs as well.

That's not the purpose I'm pursuing on this board. I am curious for some potential classmates in 2007/08.

I have just got my acceptance to BU with a decent scholarship. I am 22 years old, currently live in Texas (married a US girl) and graduated from Kings College London in 2005.
I am a little concerned about the February 1st acceptance date. I have applications under review at 5 more schools. Although I love BU, I had a great time visiting there in the summer and the people in the LLM office are some of the most friendly people I have ever come across, I still am waiting to hear from places like NYU, Penn and Harvard. Those schools are long shots, yet you do not want to be in a position of ruling yourself out. I will probably accept BU as I like it a lot, it may be a case of putting several deposits down.

i got accepted too and granted 10000 dollars. i just wanna know how much you got and whether I should ask for more.
if i wanna ask for the deadline extension, what're the normal excuses i could use? (i have not got a decent excuse.)

I won't tell my scholarship grant. LL.M. education is a competitive market, and as a lawyer I consider it a professional attitude not to disclose scholarship amounts.
Why should anyone around here be able to tell you whether you should ask for a higher scholarship amount? You must estimate your chances on your own, depending on other admission offers and scholarship grants.

Are you seriously expecting an answer to that question?

Sorry, WedgeAntilles, I didn't mean to be improfessional. But I believe the reason why we are gathering and discussing here is because we wanna get more information than we don't and make the best choice. I am from a developing country having not enough funding to support the LL.M study, so I asked how much others got. Thus I can expect to get more from the Law Schools, if others got more grants than me. Dont you think it's normal and reasonable? people always want to make best deal in the "market" as you say, so don't blame me if I tried to make the best deal.

I have applied for BU LLM program in American Law. I am still waiting for the decision. Do you know When BU usually sents its decision?

I don't see the problem with the February 1 deadline. Accept the offer at BU and place your seat deposit. In the worst case scenario you just lose your deposit if you get admitted to a higher ranked school.

thank you, guys! I've got that and just want to know whether I could ask for more scholarship?

I assure you that all of the information I provided is fully accurate. I think I could present some assets in my application that fitted BU's growth strategy.
However, I had to make some very difficult decisions -- like everyone else here with several excellent admission offers --, based on some pleasant surprises and some personal factors.
Although it gave me kind of a hard time I declined BU's offer. I still consider BU an excellent university with a very professional application management and friendly personnel.

I would like to echo the sentiments of WA. It was incredibly hard for me to decline BU, as the staff there are probably the most helpful of any school I have come across throughout this whole process. It just so happens that many other factors come into account when making a choice (i.e. a wife).
I can also assure that I recieved a decent scholarship offer (although I won't say much) and also believe that they are trying to grow as a program. It must be hard for all of the schools to compete with each other.

The interview is mandatory for every applicant. As far as I know you will talk to the director and one of his staff members. It is casual and easy going. It is about you, your interests, and your goals. Be relaxed and self-confident.

Hi,
The admissions committee convenes every friday to make decisions. The interview is one of the ultimate steps in the decision process. Knowing this, you can project a decision by the end of the week or next week. Cross your fingers.

Hi Amit,
I hope you will get accepted. My interview is scheduled for next week. What kind of questions did they ask you?
