Hi has anyone received e-mails for rejection or waitlist?

Even I want to know! I'm from India and am yet to hear back from Berkeley. My application has been 'Under Review' for a while.

Guys, has anyone found out when they will be releasing the waitlists and rejection letters?

Some of my friends received rejection letters this morning. I guess the rest of us would receive waitlists today ...

Anyone know chances of financial aid if we haven't heard yet? The website says Berkeley must be your first choice to be considered but I don't know how they'd know that... could it be that you have to accept their offer first in order to be considered?

Check your CalNet, there may be a message regarding financial aid there.

It basically says that if you did not receive an additional e-mail close after you were admitted, there are no resources available.

I've been placed on the First Quartile. I know of someone who was on the first waitlist last year but didn't make it to Berkeley, so I'm guessing that the chances of the waitlist opening aren't very high.

This is what the email said:

"Berkeley Law does not release students' exact placements on the waitlist but to aid your decision-making process, we can confirm that your application is ranked in the First Quartile. This indicates your placement on the list as follows:

First Quartile: Your application is in the top 25% of waitlist
Second Quartile: Application in top 26-50% of waitlist
Third Quartile: Application in mid 51-75% of waitlist
Fourth Quartile: Bottom 25% of waitlist

When places in the class become available, we consider waitlisted applicants in the First Quartile and then move down the list until all places are filled."

So I went through some old discussion groups and saw that the waitlists in 2015 and 2016 cleared up till the 4th quarter !

I also saw someone who said they hadn't revived an acceptance when they were in the 2nd quarter but someone in the 4th quarter did.

I Have a feeling they still go by diversity while releasing the waitlists .

Anyone have any thoughts?

I personally know a few people who got into and are not accepting Berkeley . I'm hoping the lists clear up!

Due to the fact that Berkeley (contrary to other top schools) only grants scholarships to a few candidates, I think much more accepted applicants decline the offer than elsewhere. I for instance already declined my offer for that reason... So I guess that people on the waitlist actually got a rather good chance, at least in comparison to other schools.

I agree with FAD. I will decline my offer too in a few days. Best of luck in being accepted from the waitlist!

Yup, I will be declining too, probably over the weekend. I think that a lot of wait-listed candidates will eventually be admitted.
