Bachelor in Laws Romania

Hello everyone,

I have a Bachelor in Laws from University of Bucharest, Romania and 4 years experience in banking +financial law as a legal counselor in Europe.

I moved recently in the States and Im looking for continuing education.
There are so many options and cannot figuring out the way;(

Should an LLm make my path easier for practicing law, should I go for JD or paralegal certificate/associate degree?

Thank you very much,

There are a lot of discussions on the board about this topic. The consensus generally is that while an LLM can help for some career paths (tax law) and it can help you carve out knowledge in a specialized area of law, it's usually not a pathway to landing a new job in a law firm in a new country, even if you take a bar exam afterwards. A JD is usually a better option, because law schools have more capacity at the JD level to help with placements in law firms, etc. The JD would be more of a time commitment though, obviously.

It also depends on the state where you want to practice. In NY, for example, an LLM (if you take the required courses) can make you eligible to write the bar.
