Hello,
Im studying the fourth year of my degree in Madrid. Next year is my last one and im planning to do an llm next but my english level isn't good enough yet. I'd like someone could give me some information about all the steps required to join a llm. I'm really looking forward to study in USA but i'm confused and don't know how to start. Thank you!

Hi nbp4,
Im going to NYU this fall and here are my tips:
- Find the schools you want to get in and their admission requirements and standards;
- The sooner you prepare for your application the better;
- Remember to focus on your last year at school, try to do the best you can. GPA is indeed very important.
- Do some extracurricular activities if you can or perhaps researches, which are all application boosters.
- Talk to your professor and/or employer about your plan to pursue an LLM and ask them to write you letter of recommendation. I think it's better to have someone who know you best academically or professionally write the LORs.
- Study for the TOEFL, check the minimum score required by your targeted schools.
- Think about why you want to do the LLM and your plan afterwards, etc. Write CAREFULLY the Letter of purpose.
- Update your CV;
- Think about how to pay for your study (it is very expensive to study in the US);
- Learn about LSAC and their service for LLM students. It is very helpful if you apply for a number of programs at once. Some schools require applicants to use LSAC.
- Internet is a great source of information so just do a lot of researching ASAP.
I wish you best of luck!
