Just admitted via EMAIL.
I have also admitted by Vandy with a scholarship of 15,000. I know LA is a fantastic city but I wonder whehter it worth the extra 30,000.( more living expense and tuition,no scholarship)
Any advice?
P.S I'm interested in the Empirical Study Group of UCLA but I wonder as an LLM student, do I really have any chance to take advantage of that resource?

Called UCLA last night... No answer... No response to any form of communication! Not sure what that really means... The wait rather no news / no response is turning out to be quite frustrating!

Guys I have a question to ask you:
how much money are you planning to spend for a year in LA ( apart from University fees )? at least what do you think would be needed in a city like LA for an entire academic year?
thanks and congrats for your admissions

Estimates from my experience this year:
Housing: 1100+ for university grad housing, probably at least 750 for a (possibly shared) room, easily more!!!
Food: 200+ if you go really cheap (that does NOT include eating at on campus or eating out)
Car: apart from initial price, tax and registration, probably at least 150 for gas/insurance
Phone: 50+
Internet: 30+
TV: 30+
Books: probably at least 600+ for new books per semester.
Entertainment: infinite depending on what you do. LA is not cheap! ;-) (club/bar cover, drinks/food, movies/shows/concerts, sports [get the UCLA Den Pass if you are interested in the college sports], traveling)
Minimum probably at least 1500/month and that is really hard to do because you will be going out!!! ;-) Considering grad housing (Weyburn for example) brings this up to 1800 or 1900, I wouldn't figure under 2000!!!
Hope that helped!
