Admitted students at Boston University 2007/08

Congrats,

I've been admitted to BU's Banking and Finance LLM too, Still waiting for other schools' decisions. The March deadline is a bit of an issue though.

I do know several foreign trained lawyers who went there and, believe me, both studying at BU and living in Boston seem to have made a VERY profound lasting impression on them. The contact I've had with this school is by far the most positive one to date.

Congrats to you too,

Are u planning to take it or are u waiting for results of any other university? Which other univs. have u applied to? And ya, March is an issue to me too. Is there any chance of an extension though?

Thanks and Regards,

Mastermind

Thanks.

I'm still waiting for NYU, Columbia, Duke, Cornell, Berkeley and UCLA. Most probably I will be requesting an extension next week but even with that I'm not sure if I will get notified the other decisions on time: got on jan 23 my BU acceptance by e-mail ... I received the mailed version TODAY, feb 15 ! This will be a problem for schools like Cornell who don't even send their decisions by e-mail.

Best of luck.

Hi all,

I also applied for the BU's LLM program (American Law). Today, I received an email in wich they ask me to fix an interview. I was wondering if they do an interview with all applicants or just with those who make a good chance to get in?

btw, congrats for those who r already admitted!

Seems this interview is reserved for "promising candidates". Try this link:

http://www.bu.edu/law/prospective/llm/american/faqs.html#faqs-admissions

and check the paragraph "How does the admissions process work?".

Personally I think that everyone gets one but by the end of it you do get the sense of where things are going.

Thanks.

You should know about the prospects for New York and California, but you might not know that a Nigerian recently successfully petitioned to take the MA Bar due to his common law education.

I don't know if they take EVERYBODY who had a interview, but your chances are definitely pretty good if you got one. They told me that they have only interviews with promising candidates...

To the admitted: does anyone have any idea about housing? Because no dorm + expensive rent + find-your-appartment-in-Boston-on-the-internet is quite a challenge for international students, isn't it?

"What are the admissions requirements?
The program looks for students with strong academic backgrounds and evidence that the candidate can perform well in a rigorous academic program. All applicants are required to take TOEFL (unless otherwise exempted) and obtain a minimum score of 250 (computer-based) or 600 (paper-based). Because students are expected to participate fully in classroom discussions, a high level of English proficiency is critical. Occasionally, students are accepted on the condition that they take an English class at Boston University's Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP) during the summer before the fall semester. In addition to transcripts and letters of recommendation, the application also asks for a personal statement. All promising candidates receive a telephone interview with the Director and/or the Assistant Director."

hey friends,
if anyone can tell me tat admissions for llm american lawyer prog are complete or not, cuz i didnt get any reply as yet,
thanks

Generally, it should't last longer than a week to get a reply. Mine was 4 days later. I think you better call or e-mail them to ask about your status. They are very nice and helpful.

Were you able to find the on campus housing site or other accomodations?

You can also email the off campus housing office, and ask for a password to use their roommate/apartment finder.
