ACCEPTED INTO HARVARD!!!!

mio

Just to add to the anxiety - I just called them yesterday
[Wed morning, East coast time], and the lady said that they
will do their best to check on the status of my application, since I have a deadline from another school. However, she clarified that if no decision is available, it doesn't necessarily mean that I've been rejected. [although they haven't emailed me back - haha!] Decisions are scheduled to be released around March 22nd.

Good luck, all!

--------------------------------------

There seems to be a lot of confusion about early Harvard decisions on this board, no thanks to the posts made here.

Just in case anyone is worried - the original post (which was hastily edited out) and the author's correction are both deeply misleading. The author implies that students who notified HLS of another scholarship with a tight deadline would have received an admittance decision on Monday if they were in. If not, they could expect a rejection later.

This is untrue: Students who notified Harvard of an upcoming deadline and requested an early decision were NOT all notified on Monday of their admission. I don't know how the poster can make such a claim, as would be outrageous for the admissions office to be discussing the admissions status of other students. So if you didn't get an email on Monday, that doesn't mean anything, despite what the poster is saying.

I know for a fact that admissions decisions are still being made. If you're in this situation, hang tight, and you'll get a decision soon enough.

so its definitely not March 15 then?

i don't think those emails are polite rejections anyway. it just means no decision has been arrived at yet, or maybe they just didn't want to feel pressured to making a decision on a particular applicant. besides i would presume the anxious ones are those with NYU scholarships, and definitely you guys will get the first crack at HLS.

That's possible of course but more likely than not, NYU scholarship recipients have a good shot at HLS because of their record. I do not discount however the possibility that some of them may be turned down, but I would suppose thats only for geographical reasons, i.e. too many strong applicants from 1 country or 1 region, obviously NYU has more slots to spare than HLS.

but is it possible that a person may be rejected at NYU and then admitted to Harvard?

i'm a canuck by the way, and I'm in at NYU. still waiting for HLS and YLS.

Hell, I know someone who was rejected by Penn and accepted by HLS with financial assistance. There are many factors, from one school knowing the people who recommended you better to a lot of subjectives that you can't do anything about and could have gone either way.

Now it gets even more interesting.thanks for that josepidal...:-)
so there are no set criteria.A full funding at NYU doesnt mean one can get into HLS and a rejection from Upen doesnt mean once cant get into HLS.:-)
