US Student, LLM in UK

mbkallenb

Hey everyone, just inquiring about the advantages of a US student getting their LLM in the UK? Has anyone here done this? I get that it would depend on what you would want to do after, but I guess I am wondering if US firms would see an LLM from the UK in Corporate/Finance/Securities, etc. beneficial?

Thanks

chicken so...

It depends on your goals. I suppose a UK LLM could be useful if you wanted some international experience or to get a good school name on your CV...

BUT, among American attorneys, LLMs aren't super common, generally speaking. Perhaps some firms might see the degree as a "value-add," in terms of hirings/promotions/etc. To see if this is the case I'd ask attorneys in the firms you'd be targeting.
