Hi,
I'm planning to take the QLTT this year in the US and apply for a Tier 1 visa (HSMP), but I have heard conflicting information (even from visa services and immigration attorneys in London), that a JD from a US law school does not qualify for HSMP points as a Masters. So although it took me 3 years to get my JD from a tier 1 law school after my BA, my degree does not have the same significance as a Masters in the UK for purposes of the points-based immigration system. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this? Perhaps their application got rejected or their application got accepted depsite this information? Any recommendations? Thanks - any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I was told the exact opposite when I was considering taking the QLTT but that is nothing new in the whole Tier 1 visa application process.
The problem is unless you have additional work experience the 'masters' equivalent alone will not get you enough points for the HSMP. You would need a doctorate (and I don't mean a juris doctor) for points based on degrees alone. Wish I could help more.
