Hi forum-folk,
Does anyone have any tips on qualifying for admission into UCL's new PhD course in the field of Security and Crime Science?
Will the fact that I have an LLM in I.T. and Telecommunications Law when coupled with my commonwealth legal practice qualification sway the Admission Board favourably (Bearing in mind that I do not possess the requisite 1st class in my undergrad degree)?
How specific and technical does my PhD proposal need to be? How do I approach academic staff who have expertise in any one of my choice research areas: Information Security & Mgmt; Physical Security Mgmt; Socio-Human Studies; ICT; Ethics & Public Engagement ? Mail them my CV and research proposal?
I had hoped to hand in my application for the 2010 entry, however I have realistically adjusted my preferred start date to 2011 as I have missed the last deadline for this year.
Any useful suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi! Can someone shed light on whether a person with a first in undergrad but a low 2:1 in masters (taught, no research/dissertation component) have a fair shot at getting into a UCL PhD if they have impressive publications?
