terror in london

Hi everyone,

just want to know your opinion:

After the bombings in London, do you think that London is still a safe city to study in ?

I personally will start the llm programme at UCL/London in September. My decision is not affected by the bombings, how about yours ?

Hi Mace,

Definitely don't let those bastards affect any of your decision! I will go to Manchester probably in September, but if i decided for London, I would certainly go there. All of Europe is under threat, so why not going to London?

Best of Luck

Hi guys

I'm going to London week after next to look for accommodation, and I'll start my LLM at King's in September. I still think it's relatively safe. Plus, we mustn't let those terrorist bastards ruin our lives. There's a German expression: "Jetzt erst recht!" It doesn't really translate, but it means roughly "all the more reason" or "that's not going to stop me".

So, people, let's go to London and have the time of our lives - jetzt erst recht!

hi there
i am an indian from delhi. my decision of joining soas for my llm this september too will not be affected by the bombings. however, i do feel that asians and people of asian origins would be subjected to more than usual security restictions and that is something i am not looking forward to.

I'm sure you should not worry too much about this. London has always been a tolerant multi-ethnic place and will always be.

This is what I think about whether you can feel safe in London:

You cannot feel 100% safe anywhere these days, in NY or in London, so no reason to let this influence your study plans. I myself come from Moscow, and, sadly enough, almost any city in Europe will be safer from the point of view of terrorism than this place.

Terror is every where its a part of life and one cannot stop living because of it
London, NY, Delhi nothing is safe
We need to accept it and fight against it
Compel the respective govts to take necessary action against it

I feel London is safe enough
Terror if effects our plans and way of living is successful (terror)
we should not succumb to it

I agree with all the posts above!

The world is smaller than ever. I have heard it said, but had always taken it for granted. Now I hear news that I normally equate with far away lands, but only a few hundred miles from my home.

So don't be afraid.

I'm not from London, but I have some family there, and friends too. They are not afraid. Stunned and angry, yes.

It's a sad day to remember, but you don't have to think hard to remember all thepositive things happening prior to the bombing. I'm thinking particularly of the Olympic host announcement and the G8 Protests.

dear all,
sorry for deviating slightly from the subject, but would anyone know the fees for foreign students (asian) for oxford, cambridge, lse and kings. am applying next year and my decision to begin preparations (sops et al) solely depends on this.
thanks

That's quite a deviation Caveat.... best advice is to contact the institutions directly, as the fees for next year may not yet be finalised.

And now.... back on topic ;-)
