SOAS/ Nottingham/ Manchester/ Warwick for General LLM?

I intend to persue General LLM and currently have offers from SOAS, Nottingham, Manchester and Warwick law schools. I am an international student and intend to return after completing my studies. Which law school would be a good option?

Based on your offers I would take Nottingham in a heart beat. Best law school of the lot.

thanx for the suggestion but i was wondering how good is the the city of nottingham and the university for international students. Moreover i thought that staying in the heart of london, if i chose SOAS (which is a part of university of london) would be a good option as it will provide me with more exposure.

Well yes certainly London beats Nottingham in terms of city. If it is exposure you want then pick SOAS.

I wouldn't say the whole....but London for sure.

If you would pick say Manchester or Nottingham you would save a considerable amount of money.

Thats helpful, thanx. Its just that I have more friends in London. I also have family friends in Manchester but when I was there last summer I found the city very boring n dead. I felt that I would have more stuff to do in my free time in London whereas Manchester might get lonely.

I am an international student who is also deciding between Nottingham and Warwick for my LLM, and am also having the same dilemma. So, Nottingham is regarded as a better law school than Warwick? It doesn't seem to be so when looking at rankings, but perhaps I have been looking at the wrong ones.

I have also received an offer from Queen Mary College - its much older than SOAS but both of them r part of Univ of London- i am wondering which one would be a better option to pursue General LLM

nottingham is certainly regarded as a stronger law school than warwick here in the UK.

as for nottingham v soas v QM. it depends what law you're interested in. notts is strongest overall, soas is strongest for international/regional law/environmental law, QM for IP. horses for courses.

Having had the choice between Warwick and Nottingham myself last year, I've eventually choosen Nottingham. Although, I must admit, the choice was not an easy one. You are right, Warwick has overall a somewhat better reputation than Nottingham but the Law school of Nottingham University is consistently ranked in the top 5 in the UK and, in terms of research amount and quality, is definitely better then that of Warwick. Nottingham's law school is also bigger and older than that of Warwick, if this arguments count for you. We are about 200 LLM students this year and its is amazing how many people from all parts of the world you are able to meet here.
One little apect that may(or may not) be of some importance to you if you are an EU or international student is that Nottingham city is quite well know around the world whereas in case of Coventry, the town where Warwick university is located, you might expect people scratching their heads and asking 'where is that actually located'?
Anyways, that was just my line of thinking - you may have different preferences and may be Warwick will work just fine for you.

Between Queen Mary and SOAS which would be a better option for general LLM - with subjects such as International Human Rights, International Arbitration, Energy Laws and IPR laws (trademarks). From the point of UK law firms which college fares better?

Queen Mary, in a heartbeat. SOAS isnt going to get you anywhere unless youre thinkin g about a PHD and would like to build a good social base. If its your career, then just pick Queen Mary. Its among the best of them.
