Hello everyone... there is something making me very anxious these days:
I was told in my Chevening scholarship interview that they only give it to candidates with unconditional offers from the universities.
I am still waiting for the results of my applications and I am afraid it could take as long as March. I am afraid that would be too late for the Chevening selection as the results are supposed to be revealed in early March.
Does anybody has any thoughts on that? Any experience?
Cheers

Well i didnt know about that because i applied to the chevening scholarhips here in my country and they didnt say anything about you holding an offer whatsoever. They said the scholarship is for students who intend to apply for a university, have already applied and waiting for an answer or already hoy an offer from university.
When i applied (january 29) i attached copy of one conditiona offer from queen mary, one inconditional offer from Edinburgh and also include some conversations between University College London and me where they say they would answer within the following week. Now i received the offer and i as wondering if i could attach this new letter to the application but that ill find out on monday because i m going to call them.
anyway im kinda sure that if u already hold an offer they would probably prefer you but in my case thats not what the documents said upon thee time of applying. Maybe after you were chosen for the interview the tell the selected candidates that they need an unconditional in orfer for them to give the scholarship.
Wat you should do is write or call the unis you are applying and explain them your situation! Maybe somebody else with more xperience and help you more.
Good luck! :)

Thanks for the reply PUCCA. It seems that the Chevening program is different here. My deadline for the scholarship application was 31st July 2008 - way earlier than the universities.
I will definitely email the universities by the end of next week....

Hello Demian,
Could you tell me as to when were you called for the interview? In my country the application deadline was early december. I haven't heard from them since then.
Good Luck :)

Hi Fire
My interview was early December and the application deadline was July. I think they mentioned there would be more interviews this year but the results are next month.
Good luck!

In my case they replied around February 16 and said I was not successful. Well I guess it wasnt for me then! they also said they have to give priority to peple who have never been or studied in the UK before.
