post-LLM plans?

nate

so what does everyone here plan to do with their LLM? if you have already finished, what did you do with it?

i'm trying to get a good idea of the types that get LLMs. are you in private practice and looking to go back afterwards? are you using the LLM to change career paths? i'd love to hear anyone's plans as i'm currently trying to decide on the right program to apply to.

you mean that people attending LLM programs are wondering what to do with the degree?

Hi Nate,

I highly recommend reading the student case studies published on the LL.M Innovation, Technology and the Law (distance learning) website, they have some excellent views from three (soon to be four) of our students' pre and post graduation successes, hopes...and dreams?!

For example:

"After consulting and teaching for a number of years in the area of e-business design and opportunity evaluation/development, I felt I needed a stronger understanding of intellectual property and IT law. This has been particularly important in working with start-up businesses creating software solutions looking to distribute their products into South East Asia."

From one of our current students!

And from one of our graduates:

"I am an Assistant Solicitor in the Corporate Department of a firm of Solicitors. I work solely on IP/IT matters, e.g. licensing agreements, patent and trade mark applications, software development agreements, website terms and conditions, data protection, and e-commerce issues. I honestly dont think I would have been offered my current job without having this LL.M from The Univeristy of Edinburgh. My new boss has since said that it was my enthusiasm for IP/IT which convinced him I would be able to do the job in the absence of practice experience in this field!"

Hope that's all of interest.
