Can anyone tell me what value has a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Legal Studies from the University of Edinburgh??
It is basically the LLM without the dissertion. What can I do with it?

Thanks in advance

Bin it? At least from my perspective that's the only thing you can do with it...

If you want to find a job in the UK, an LLM will not make your life easier, but might help to a certain extent. Of course it won't allow you to practice as a barrister, advocate (in Scotland) or solicitor.

As I understand, the diploma is as good as nothing for that purpose... it won't help you with law firms and won't do you any good if you wanted to follow an academic path...

Hence, bin it!

From a career-related point of view, I'd second that. Even though the course itself might be good (I simply can't judge that), the title that you receive in the end is a very important factor. Hence, you should go for an LL.M.
Furthermore, please note that not all LL.M. courses necessarily require you to write a dissertation. Take Cambridge, for example, where this is purely optional.
