Folks,
With all this hot air, you've forgotten the original subject of this thread: the Oxford BCL and the Cambridge LL.M. So let's get back on topic. Anyone received an offer for the BCL?
The Prof
P.S. To those of you who post comments that have nothing to do with the orignal thread (you know who you are), stop it. It makes the message chain digressive and misleading, for one expects to read about the BCL and the Cambridge LL.M., not the JD or the US class-rank system. If you have an unrelated question, pm somebody or start another thread. Otherwise, I'll av yah!!!!!!!

Only for the Msc in Criminology, but I guess it won't be long...

Excel,
I'm in a similar situation (top 10 law school, though). Did you also apply to Oxford? Are you applying for an LLM, and if so, why not a PhD?
At the risk of posting inappropriately...
For various personal reasons (totally having nothing at all to do with the program itself) an Oxford application was not feasible this year (that, and I'm slightly afraid of the BCL), so I only applied to Cambridge. If I don't get in I guess I'll stay stateside for the year and then apply to Oxford. After all, I do have to at least attempt pay off my loans at some point... That's also why I wanted a 1 year program. My loved ones were not so keen on the idea of yet another graduate degree... the LLM was a compromise position. If I ever get out from under this mound of debt I may do a PhD, but not immediately. (I also had a terrible run in with a professor who crushed all my hopes of ever teaching, so the doctorate is not critical to my plans at this point).
Seriously, you are all such lovely people. Anyone seen Above the Law? Its the lowest circle of hell compared to this place, even if there are a few shady characters around.

What is up with these boards? It's incredible. Conspiracies everywhere of people faking acceptances to top law schools and other people getting aggravated by each other's posts.
It's like being in an episode of 24 but without Jack Bauer :s

That makes a lot of sense. By the way, if you think ATL is bad, you should see Autoadmit.

This discussion board has been wonderful thus far.
It certainly provides for some useful information and guidance to past/ future applicants. It is the place where some luckier ones shared their joy and some others shared their anxiety. It is also the thread encouraging and inspiring those who initially view Oxbridge as an unrealistic dream to give it a shot- if those people having such credentials can get an offer, I should probably try it out
And I do believe that more than 95%, if not all, of this threads contributors are genuine applicants who are here to solicit some sort of support or advice or kind LLM/BCL predecessors who are here to share their experience.
There are a lot of speculations here since its inception, most of which revolved around the schools decision-making procedures. Credit should really be given to those who make an effort to clear up the confusion or point out the conjectures which they think baseless or ill founded. But to urge people not to make any speculation doesnt sound so right to me, as I would think that most of the viewers of this board are sensible enough to compare the speculations against dissenting opinions and make selection of information. Arent we?
Finally, can I just say that- its only beginning of March! Oxford hasnt made any offer yet and I believe at least half of the places at Cambridge are yet to be decided (another speculation which is unfounded, but I am sure you should be able to manage your own expectation)

I would say 75% of the Cambridge seats are up for the grab...
Mmm. That's evidently the sort of high quality informed speculation that our colleagues are discussing.
Ciao.

Speculation (n): Reasoning based on inconclusive evidence; conjecture or supposition.
"I talked to some guys" = inconclusive evidence.
"75% of seats are up for grabs" = speculation.

11:43 a.m. - "It isn't speculation..."
12:40 p.m. - "Mere speculations...Don't take them to the heart."
Neat.

Can you all please stop this, it\'s pathetic. You never know who is reading this discussion board. You wouldn\'t want this petty childlike tit-for-tat argument to affect your chances of getting into Cambridge or Oxford, would you? If these are the sort of people I might be going to university with, then I\'m very disappointed. If you\'re going to get an offer, you\'ll get an offer. If you\'re going to get rejected, you\'ll get rejected. Get a grip on it, all of you.

way to go big suze!! i totally endorse your views..

It's frustrating because I read this discussion board to see how the application process is progressing for everyone. I'm sick and tired of this petty arguing. I can't believe you people don't have anything better to do with your time! Maybe it's the lawyer in us...to not want to LET THINGS GO...

Thanks Big Suze. It was on-the-spot and necessary reaction.
I totally concur. No one is entitled to use this thread as a medium of killing the time or use like sending sms up to friends.
The reason of this thread, i believe, to share the valuable knowledge as to the application procedure or the programs. However, I regret seeing the kiddish discussions evolving around.
I may have sounded a little bit harsh, but I am of the opinion that we should write a comment when it really is deemed necessary. For the avoidance of any unnecessary discussions, I will not reply to any comments with respect to this issue.

Dice
