I also got an offer from Oxford for the MJur yesterday (and an offer for Cambridge LLM at the beginning of the week)! The condition for Oxford is 9.0 in the German First State Examinations, the conditions for Cambridge are going to be sent to me separately by post. From elder posts I guess it could be 11.5 in the First State Examinations...
Are there any Germans here who also received offers from both Oxbridge Unis? Where would you go?

I only have Oxford Majur Offer at the moment although there is no any conditions.
I applied to Cambridge last fall but I've got no result at all. They said I am being considered.

Hey,
Congratulations! I haven't received anything by now, but I only applied to Cambridge. I know that for Cam it is not imperative to get an 11,5. I heard that with a 10,7 or so in the Erstes Staatsexamen you can get in, so don't worry to much if you fail to the "gut". I personally would go for Cam, because I heard that the MJur is considered as less valuable than the LLM. But no matter what you choose, both will be extremely worthy for your further career!
Maybe it is helpful to check the course options, which will suit your interest or further career plans better?
Good luck

cam requires 11.5 - for sure.
since people know that you can get into ox with 9 in the state exam, it's not that prestigious. besides the fact that ox is ranked 6th in law in the uk, and it's not any better.

Hi dc,
where are you taken that information (min. requirement of a 11.5) from?

Okay, but they seem to make exceptions from time to time.

Mjur is more suitable to me though. I have not much knowledge of Common Law and Cam LLM would be difficult for Civil Law backgound students.

I think people coming into this thread are interested in Ox Mjur.
Anyone who wish to comment on this archaic topic : Which do you think is better for civil law backgrounds? Cambridge LLm or Ox Mjur? Just what comes out from your head?
