Dear all,
I am now choosing between these two top choices. I have searched for a lot of threads about these, but so far I have not found any on comparison between "Ox MJur" and Cam LL.M., most of which focusing on Ox BCL, I would appreciate very much if anyone compare Ox MJur with Cam LL.M, expecially the reputation, job prospective, etc.
If there is any studying in Cam, may I know if the workload is heavy or not? Can you get the guaranteed accommodation? How is the atmosphere there, academically? Are students, staffs and professor "arrogant" there? (coz I have heard that colleges only benefit students of their own colleges, even you cannot step into another college to use the toilet, which scares me)
Moreover, I heard that Ox focuses on academic training, while Cam aims at lawyer practical skills, is it correct?
Thank you very much in advance for any advice!!!

I am in the same situation as you. I have been admitted by both MJur at Ox and LLM at Cam. I don't know where to go. Ox's BCL is the best, but we are heading for its Mjur, not BCL. Plus, Cam is cheapter, but Ox offers the tutorials.

Me too. I will go for Cam due to the smaller costs....

well, i am definitely biased coz i did my LLM at Cam...
I think it depends on your personality and wat u r looking for. If you like supervision and tutorials, then oxford would probably suit u more... at Cam, we do emphasize independence and that's why u might find urself FREE for almost half of the week..but u r supposed to do extra readings on ur own...
people are very friendly at cam... and being a Cantabrigian, u can have access to any of the colleges, so you will be able to use other colleges' toilets~! dun worry...

hi all,
just wanna ask more questions for my decision.
How many hours of lectures per week do we have to take in Cam or Ox? In Ox, I heard that every student is required to hand in two essays per week, is it true? What is the method of evaluation in these two universities?
Moreover, may I know the master programs, ox and cam, which one is more pratice-oriented? If I want to pursue my doctor degree, is it really more suitable for me to choose Ox?
Since there are not so far a lot of people in cam posting here, I would be more than appreciated if Canta people can share with us more about your experience in Cam, about the courses you take, interaction between professors and students, colleagues, and so forth.
Sorry for asking so many questions, because I am totally confused and in a dilemma. It is a hard choice for me. Thanks in advance for any kind help.

in cambridge, you choose 4 courses for the year... usually you will have 2 hours of lecture/seminar each week for each of the courses... and then, subject to the individual course coordinator, you could get 0 or upto 2 hours of small groups seminars...
as for assessment, it is typically based 100% on a final exam in may/june... but if u opt for a dissertation option, that could mean you do parts or none of the written exam depending on the course again...
as for a PhD at cambridge... you would have to get a 1st or "marginal first" in your LLM there in order to be qualified...
why do you think it's more suitable to go for oxford if you want a doctorate???

Firstly, thanks for your kind response.
It is a rumor from my friend's friend who was in Canta LL.M. She said the academic training in Ox Master of Law program is more intensive, so it would be more suitable to go to Ox Master of Law program for preparation for Doctor degree.

How nice you guys have been admitted. How is life there?
I am applying to Cam and Ox for 2008 entry. Anything you would share about the application?
