Im also have the same question. Never the less, i applied to Edinburgh. QS rankings rate this university as number 20 in the world.
The thing with me is that i did not do well on my toefl, so im taking it again.
Good Colleges: Kings College, UCL, LSE, Edinburgh. I also think manchester is a good college.
I hope other people reply to this.

Where i live (panama), people say the same thing but i am looking for a diferent experience and that is the main reason why i want to study in UK and also because i have italian nationality.
I have been in the US and for me is almost the same as in my country in cultural subjects.
Think about edinburgh. It seems a nice college and it is very well known.

With 3 being the maximum, 2.77 is what is called summa cum laude honours.
What do you want to know about recommendations and the personal statement?

I'm not sure how the grades compare, but 60% would be a low 2:1 in the UK. A first is generally at 70%. But you might ask the university you're applying to (or indeed where you're already studying) for their experience.
When it comes to jobs, I think the Visa / UKBA rules say that overseas students (without the right to work in the UK) must study on a full-time basis (and the university will give you a full-time timetable too). There are also some tough rules about work permits too (unless you've already secured a sponsor) which you might think about.
There are jobs - you just need to show you're the right candidate!
