Hi, I am thinking of taking the LLM Professional Legal Practice, instead of an merely academic LLM (e.g. LSE/KCL, etc), simply because I am already working and I am already fully qualified. The University of London ones seems not to be orientated for the real practical legal life and I need something very practical to progress and get the specific Financial knowledge to do so, not the usual bullsh** that is fine for the undergrad or for people aiming to pursue a PhD. Has anyone done it? I would appreciate some feedback since the course will cost £10.000. Many Thanks

Your post looks more like a subtle ad for the College of Law rather than a genuine query.

Thanks Craig, you really are clever mate, why don't you join MI5? Please, the only real choice if you are after a truly good LLM is Oxbridge, if not, the rest is crap. I can't go to Ox or Cam because I work and have a mortgage and family, but that is the truth. Just check the profiles of the lawyers in the top 3 Firms in London; almost all of them went there for their undergrad and llm if they did one.

What's the "College of Law" (for us foreigners who aren't familiar)?

Together with BPP and others they provide courses (qltt, lpc, etc), their purpose is only the practice of law or finance, you won't find banal subjects such as 'law & gender' among their courses. Just real life subjects. However, it has no prestige, at least not the kind of prestige an Oxbridge would have.
What I would indeed appreciate is someone giving me some feedback on the llm since it is super expensive and I I have very limited funds/time. Cheers

I understand your point, but I don't believe it's worthwhile. The reason the College of Law pops up on many top lawyer's CVs is because of the LPC/GDL, not because they took an LLB or LLM there (though there are probably exceptions). If you want to do an LLM and need to stay in London, I would recommend going to a UoL school. I don't think that an LLM from the College of Law will open many doors, but that's just my two cents.
