LL.M versus GDL?

Finnish

Hello!

First of all I'd like to apologize since I realise that there are quite many threads with the same title. Nevertheless none of them answered directly to my question.

I'm a Finnish law student studying currently in Helsinki University a Bachelor's degree in Law (which will be automatically followed with a Masters degree). I also work for a nationally recognized top tier law firm in Finland and have a quite impressive CV and good academic success. I also speak fluently 5 languages (English not being so good however as I'd wish, sorry for that)

I wish to pursue for an international law career (Clifford Chance etc) preferrably in London. I've thought a lot of my options and came to the following conclusion:

1) LL.M in a respectable university (perhaps Cambridge?)

2) GDL (BPP?) + LPC with a training contract (I've heard though that they're almost impossible to get for a foreigner?

However I'm unsure if it's possible for me to get a training contract with GDL or a job with LL.M.

So I'm asking Your opinion. What road should I take?

Good Gosh

an LLM won't qualify you to work in the english legal market per se, to do that you essentially need a GDL. you don't need to do the LLM to do the GDL. if the question is does having a cambridge LLM (on which you perform well) help in securing a training contract with a top solicitor's firm, then the answer is obviously yes, ceteris parabus. admission to the LLM is, in many ways, proof of excellence. good luck with you decision.
