For those of you who are weighing up the chance to follow such ll.m.,I strongly recommend you not to do it.
Such ll.m.has been arranged in such a way that you will be left without necessary guidance throughout the whole master. Some modules will be given to you in the form of short summary and encouragement will be provided in searching your own resources, which in most cases are represented by costly books not anybody can afford.
Poor library in the relevant field and no selfmade contribution by tutors (experts?)complete the picture.
Definitively save up your money and study on your own.

So did you enroll? Are you saying there are no lectures or other materials? I am about to enroll in the LL.M. now and don't want to throw my money away for some self-taught degree.

Save your money. Don't enrol on this place for heaven's sake. If you want oil and gas law go to Dundee or Aberdeen but for the love of god don't throw your money away.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Dundee and Aberdeen are much more expensive, which is why Derby was attractive for me. So I won't be enrolling in any of the programs.

Understood, but I don't want to attend an on-campus program - I have no time for that with a full-time legal practice.

We are very sorry to hear your thoughts on this course. We would like to assure you that all of your comments have been taken seriously. Please take a look at the feedback below.
1. Response to: you will be left without necessary guidance
Every module, and every unit within every module, contains clear instruction on what is required to complete the tasks and where to go for information. There are a wide range of resources for reference and online tutors to provide help in case of difficulty.
2. Response to: Some modules will be given to you in the form of short summary and encouragement will be provided in searching your own resources
The programme is at masters level and as such is not spoon-fed. There is always sufficient guidance provided to set out the what, when, why and how of learning but as with any masters level programme a critical analysis of sources and exercising original thought is required. That is what distinguishes a Master of Law from an undergraduate degree.
3. Response to costly books
Where possible we make eBooks available from our Library. These can be accessed through links contained in the module reading lists. However, some publishers do not or are reluctant to make certain books available in eBook format. Unfortunately that is beyond our control although we make every effort to find suitable alternatives and even make copies of relevant extracts available within the limits imposed by copyright law. Reading lists are regularly reviewed to ensure the widest accessibility for our students, no matter where they are located. In fact we have recently purchased further e-books for this module to improve the learning experience for our students.
If you have any questions, please contact us on +44 (0)20 3377 3209 or email us at derby@informa.com. All the course information including content and structure can be found at www.informadl.com/FKW12326LLMGW.

The treatment one receives when dealing with studies-related issues and administrative issues leaves too much to desire.
Complaints are most of times dropped under the circumstance that no face-to-face confrontations will ever occur because of the fact one is in another mainland and by no means one can take a plane to show up at the university.
Extremely dissapointed and constant feeling of having fallen into a trap with no way out.
