kcl VS edinburgh

hi guys, who can tell me which one is worth going. in my opinion, kcl's law school is better than edin's. while the edin's general reputation is somewhat higher than kcl, especially outside uk,i guess. although i like the city of edinburgh, i wonder, compared with england, whether scotland will be a ideal place to learn law or not.

When making comparisons ask yourself what you want to achieve from your studies? What area are you most interested of Law are you most interested in? What is your preferred mode of study (part-time, full-time, modular, distance learning)? If you study on-campus, what sort of night life do you want? and so on...

When you understand your motivations and objectives, look at Edinburgh and KCL and compare both of them against your list. You will quickly be able to determine which offers you the most suitable avenue for your studies.

I work at the Unversity of Edinburgh School of Law, my involvement solely with an LL.M programme by distance learning. If you require any information about my University, please post here or contact me and I'll try to help.

Hi CMiller,

Am very interested in University of Edinburgh's LLM by distance learning! UE has an excellent reputation here in SIngapore. However I went to the website but couldn't find any information. Do you have any details on the courses?
Many Thanks!!

I just graduated from KCL's LLM last October.

I do not really know much Edinburgh though I've heard about its excellent reputation for law.

However being an international student I would say that the impact of King's College London on the cv (international recognition) as well as its unique location in the city of London are important factors.

Another factor in the choice is the fact that the KCL's LLM is in fact a program offered by the University of London. UCL, Queen Mary, KCL and SOAS are offering more than 200 subjects together...I think it is rather unique in Europe (and probably in the world). It allows students to really specialize if they want to.

KCL has a very good reputation for law and especially for LLMs. I read somewhere that, in France, Germany and the Scandinavian countries (for example) it is ranked as the n°1 LLM in Europe.

But keep in mind that rankings are really relative and that what matters is what you want.

Once again I am certain that Edinburgh can offer things that KCL cannot offer...

Good luck anyway. I am certain that you will make the right choice.
