immigrating to UK as a barrister

HDW

Does anybody know the immigration procedure if you want to be a barrister in the UK? I am Canadian, and plan to undertake the BVC in 2007-2008. Then I would like to do a pupillage and qualify and work in the UK. I spoke to one Canadian doing pupillage and he said that he had no problems immigrating, as while you are doing pupillage you are still a "student" for immigration purposes, and therefore can be on a student visa, and then afterwards, you are self-employed, and the conditions of immigration are not difficult to satisfy. Does anyone else have information on this?

If you get pupillage, you stay on a student visa, that is correct.
but I dont know about being self-employed. Perhaps, u might check the immigration office website.
