I am applying for LLM to universities in UK. Can anyone tell me whether getting a LOR from a High Court Judge (Sittting/Retired) will help me getting admissions to a good university? Well I am from Mumbai, India.

Dear Pratish
The rule which will be applied by most British Universities is that they will want an academic reference from the University that awarded your degree.
A reference from a judge will be appreciated but above all you must have a proper academic reference.

The important issue for all Universities is that you have an academic reference. The High Court judge reference is helpful, but the academic reference is essential. Frankly, you will not get a look in without one.

I think more to the point than references (academic or otherwise) are grades. I don't think a reference from anybody, no matter how influential, will compensate for poor marks. Also important is what a referee says and how likely that person is to be in a position really to assess your academic performance.
