Hi everybody!
I'm from Romania and I'm in my last year of Law school. Can anyone tell me what are the chances to get accepted for a LLM even if my grades are not that good? Romania has a different system of grading. A 10-point scale is used, 5 being the minimum grade for passing. I also have a B.A. in political science. My overall grade was 8.23 (4 years of school + bachelor degree), though I don't imagine that counts for anything.

I think your ranking within the group counts. Besides, 8.23 on 10 seems great !! But maybe that is not so excellent in Romania?
Anyway, your placement in the group carries the most weight.

Perhaps the ECTS grading system would help you work out an equivalence. Usually British universities state that they want a 2,1 or above. In broad terms this is an A or a B in ECTS grading. I say broad terms because ECTS is worked out by reference to the percentage of the class that normally get that grade - so the top 10% get an A, the next 25% get a B and the next 30% get a C. Most British universities don't mark by class ranking, so there is a lack of 'fit' in mindset here. In my institutions I would guess that they will equate and A to a 'first' and a B to a 2,1, with C being 2,2.
