Grades to be accepted in Cambridge

Sarah Dv

Hello,

I am Sarah. I am currently at l’EFB - the Paris Bar school. I am currently an intern in an invest fund and then in a law firm.

I would like to do an LLM at Cambridge next year, but I am afraid I don’t have the qualifications.

I had a 13 in Licence 3 and Master 2 in Law. I also did a business school (the 4th in France) after a preparatory class. I do not know if this is enough.

If somebody can tell me what my chances are, I would be very grateful, either for Cambridge or any other LLM in the UK or in the USA.

Thank you a lot !

Hi,

Because competition for places at Cambridge is very high, successful candidates usually hold first class degrees in law (you would have to look up what the equivalent of this is in France, but I think 13 is equivalent to a 2:1 degree in the UK). Having said that, you can always try applying to Cambridge, but, if I were you, I would also apply to other respectable unis, such as UCL, Durham, Edinburgh, or Glasgow.

In my experience, Cambridge doesn't seem to care that much about grades (or how your university ranks for that matter) as long as you meet the minimum course requirement of a first.
More than anything you need to make a good case for why you would be a good fit for the course and why you would benefit from it.
