Edinburgh vs ILF vs Warwick

hey guys,

i am in the lucky position to choose between three different llm programms for next year.

llm in finance (IFS, Goethe University, Frankfurt)
llm in commercial law (Edinburgh University)
llm in international corp. governance and financial regulation (warwick)

i, myself, have an almost entirely business-related background: currently i am doing a master in finance. for next year my plan is to complement my finance knowledge with the underlying law elements in order to be able to grasp the full picture of (financial) transactions)

is there anyone out there, who could give me advise as to which programm is the most reputable (across europe, uk etc), academically most demanding, offers the best employability prospects etc....

I would really appreciate your input.

cheers

I do not know anything about Goethe University, but between Edinburgh and Warwick my choice is definitely Edinburgh.

I have been to both Edinburgh and Coventry, and I found Edinburgh far more beautiful -- not to mention its importance as the capital of Scotland. Moreover, it is also high above Warwick in terms of reputation and prestige. That's all I could say about these two UK universities.

Definitely Edinburgh if you are going for reputation. I don't know anything about Goethe either. Edinburgh's commercial law programme is stellar. I did my LLM in international law at Edinburgh and returned for my PhD, so though I am a bit biased, there are good reasons I chose Edinburgh the first time around and then returned.
The Commercial LLM faculty (esp Cabrelli, McGregor, Hood & Black) is excellent and all of them maintain very close ties (if not actually continuing to practice) with the active legal world, which is essential for commercial law. They are also very approachable for students and always do their best to assist students in getting the most out of their studies or those having difficulty. Individually they have also done interesting research in their respective fields as several of my colleagues are their RAs, thus providing great depth to their courses.
Best of luck with your decision.

I would go to Warwick. Currently I am in Durham doing my LLM, and I am having an excellent experience. Go for it!

Edinburgh is known for law, not warwick. Besides, choosing an old university is better for a traditional subject such as law...from my perspective
