Hi there folks! Hope youre all doing all right!
I know it was quite early to start applying for LLMs commencing September 2010, but considering that I was good to go in terms of documentation and everything else, I decided to just go for it! Cant get an offer if I dont apply and it doesnt hurt to show them that Im really interested and that Ive planned ahead, does it?
Well, given this anxiety that was eating me inside out and heedless of hearing from the postgraduate admission departments at such Universities that I should wait till October to apply I applied to Aberdeen (I think it was on 25 August) and Edinburgh (about 10 days ago).
My question is: do you guys have a clue on how long these universities usually take to make a decision? I know they might end up taking at least a little longer than usual, especially when you consider that the postgraduate departments have told me to wait until October (and I didnt listen to it) and theres plenty of time until September 2010. However just hearing something from students that have had experience with these universities in the past would be great!
Ive got to admit that although it hasnt been long since I applied, the waiting is really killing myself I wonder if I shouldve waited
Well, long story short, all answers are appreciated.
Thanks very much!
Best,
Can anyone help?

I think most of the schools are still dealing with the 2009 batch. You are likely to get a response early October mid October!
Don't worry they are busy with the entering LLM classes.

Thats what I think too but thank you very much for replying!!!!
The one thing that was bugging me tough was that Aberdeen hadnt answered whether thatd received all supporting documents I called them today to check on that and the girl at the postgraduate office said theyve received everything. That sort of calmed me down a little. She also said I should hear a feedback from the university in four to six weeks, just like you mentioned. That leaves me with the waiting part... which is worst one I guess.

You definitely won't hear anything until at least October and I would say late October. Until classes officially begin next week, at least at Edinburgh, they won't even have the exact number of students for the 2009 class as enrollments change throughout this week, which is registration week. There are roughly 150 LLMs starting at Edinburgh right now that must be processed. Therefore, your application will not likely be passed onto reviewers until October.
Though I must admit, from other posts you've done, I thought you were actually accepted and starting the LLM this fall.
Best of Luck.

Hi man
From my experiecne with our uni Aberdeen I can tell you that your application might take about three months for consideration and then you will get the final decision.
however, my recommendation to you is to apply to as many unis as you could and with the online applications it becomes easeir to do so.
Good luck

Im applying to five universities (University of Nottingham, Oxbridge, Aberdeen and Edinburgh). Im keen to go to Scotland, so Aberdeen and Edinburgh are definitely my favourites, mainly Edinburgh I have to add. But many thanks for the advice anyway!!! And indeed the online application has made everything much easier I havent looked into it that much, but as I recall US universities do not have online application and I think thats definitely a downside.

Hi there folks. Those guys at Nottingham are quite fast when analysing applications, huh? They received my recommendation letters today and already reached a decision to bad they told me to get lost!!! With a rejection comes along an enormous frustration, but Ive got to admit that Nottingham wasnt exactly my first choice! It wasnt the last either though, not even by far!!! Well, first answer, first rejection things arent going exactly as planned but let us not lose all hope! Four more to go! Anyhow, just wanted to share my frustration and my fear of not being accepted anywhere at all with all of you. Off I go
