Cambridge LLM 2016 - 2017 Applicants

Ji-soo

I got an offer about two weeks ago but I am yet to get a college offer. I chose Trinity College as my first choice and Christ College as my second choice. I don't know what is wrong with my college application. Can anyone shed light on this? I will appreciate any explanation based on reasons for the delay. Thanks.

Teelawal, Trinity is one of the most oversubscribed colleges, that could explain the delay in processing your application... In general it can take up to 6 weeks to receive a college offer if I remember correctly (from Cambridge website)

The website reads:

Colleges may take up to ten working days to make a decision but, as applications are often considered by more than one college in turn, the average time for a college decision to be made is three weeks from the date of the offer of admission.

Anyone got allocated to a college yet? Good luck to all

Queens, and you?:-)

I got allocated to Wolfson a few days after my conditional offer. However, no word yet on scholarships or funding. Does anyone know when this is likely to happen?

The gentleman who answered my queries at the Graduate Admissions Office referred me to the number (+44) 1223 330034, saying that if you wanted to know how long your individual application might take to process, you could give that number a call. I gave it a couple of tries, but no-one would pick. However, if anyone has better luck, and/or the courage to find out, I trust this information will be useful to you.

Have you had any luck so far?

Not yet - didn't call them yesterday but I'll give it another go today. My thinking is they are either too busy deciding the remainder of the applications to bother with the phone or they generally ignore external calls during this period.

Just gave them a call, and they confirmed that the status updates will continue to be made between now, until Tuesday.

Sitting tight now for either absolute jubilation or utter despair.

Ditto! Thank you for the update.
Has anyone here had an update the last week, though?

Just received an email from Cambridge Commonwealth Trust:
"Pleased to inform that you are eligible for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. Kindly complete the electronic portal form below as the next stage of process."
Just wish to know if this scholarship is almost certain at this stage considering Cambridge itself would have forwarded my application within its allotted 9 seats for this scholarship. Or this is just another long ordeal of application process for this scholarship.
Commonwealth's explanatory document seems to hint that it is almost certain that Cambridge has nominated me as one of the candidates. But don't want to read too much for now.
Any past or current student from the Commonwealth, kindly enlighten me :)

I have just received a rejection e-mail concerning the Gates scholarship. However, my status is still "under consideration by the degree committee". Is this normal? I thought that only those accepted are further taken into consideration for scholarships and other funding opportunities, including Gates. Does anyone know for sure how this works and what it means?

Hi guys,

I just received an email saying my application for the Gates Scholarship was unsuccessful.

However, my status is still "under consideration by the DC"

I was wondering, did everyone receive an email about the Gates scholarship? The fact that my application was analysed by Gates means something or they analysed all applications, even those without a decision?

My status changed an hour ago to "Awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies - the DC is satisfied with your application, however your offer has not yet been approved". Can those who have already received their offers tell me what are the chances of getting an offer at this point and what can go wrong? Many thanks and good luck to those who are still waiting!
