CAMBRIDGE COMMONWEALTH SHARED SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

Hi guys,
Did any of you apply for the Cambridge Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme? I wanted to know the process and what being nominated means?
Has any of your EAS changed from being with the nominating agency?

Hi, I am new to this thread. I was nominated for the Shared Scholarship. I think after being nominated, the application is handled by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. However, my EAS portal says that the application is currently with the nominating agency. Is anyone in a similar boat?

From my experience with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission last year when I got a scholarship to Oxford, the nominating agency is the institution that puts your name forward to the CSC as a good candidate for a Commonwealth Scholarship.

I would cautiously say that it is just a formality, as the school nominates as many people as there are scholarships with just a few as reserves (in our class they were 2 reserves as there were 5 scholarships on offer)

Thanks for the reply.
I was nominated for the Cambridge shared scholarship. However, i saw somewhere on the CSC page that the commission asks the university to nominate about three times more people than the available slots. Cambridge has 10 slots this year and I know about 5 people so far nominated.
Did your status ever change from being with the university to the commission?

My EAS says that the stage my application is "CSC" and that it has been with the CSC since the 25th April. On the section with agency input you would see that the nominating agency would have entered information nominating you I believe. I hope that helps.

I can see all that information of agency input showing that i was nominated and it is signed on the 25th April 2014. But the application is still stuck with the uni. It is so frustrating at this moment!

Hey Guys, wanted to inform that I too was nominated for the scholarship, but received a rejection for it last week. So I guess, if you guys haven't heard yet, its probably a good sign. Best of luck!

You were nominated and then rejected? Wow. This is confusing. Is it the school that rejected you or the commission? Kindly elaborate.

Yup, I was nominated. And I submitted the application. Then last week I received a mail from the commission stating that my application was unsuccessful.

Not that I want to give you false hope, but I think you should write to your contact at the Uni/nominating agency and seek confirmation that your application has indeed been declined.
Last year, I received an auto-generated response from the EAS, which said my application had been unsuccessful, and would go no further.

After weeks of mopping, I finally got the courage to ask the Course Administrator where I had gone wrong, and she advised me that to disregard the contents of that email.
So maybe you could try that, after all, the worst they can say is no, in which case you will be in the same position anyway
