Cambridge Admissions

I sent my application to Cambridge back in November, and still haven't received a decision. However, I applied to both UCL and LSE in late-December and have already received decisions from both. Anyone out there heard from Cambridge, or have any idea when I should be hearing back? Also, could anyone give me a general idea of what class rank generally gets you acceptance into Cambridge? Thanks!

Hi there!
I also applied for Cambridge back in november and received nothing yet. My status continues to be 'applicant'. They were supposed to make a decision in mid-january and then, they released a new message stating that they had lots of applications and that the process would take some more time.
As for the class ranking... I don't know.
What about LSE? I applied two weeks ago and I did not get any answer, how long did it take for you to get a response?

Yes, I received an e-mail from someone at Cambridge saying that my application was going to Committee back in early December, but still have not heard back. I did hear back from LSE, though, and I applied back in mid-December. They gave me a decision back on 2/6, but I didn't know that I could check my application status online through their system, so I actually didn't find out until 2 days ago. I still haven't received my "official" acceptance through the mail, though. But, I was accepted into UCL and LSE, so now its decision time-- and, its not an easy decision, especially with Cambridge still undecided!

Hi jrmorton. When you say you got an email saying your application was 'going to committee', was that just the standard 'we got your application' email or another one? Just interested as the only email I've received was about two weeks after I submitted my application with them just saying they got it :)

No, it wasn't the standard e-mail. I received an e-mail from someone in the admissions office stating that they had not yet received my academic transcripts, but that my application was ready to go to committee otherwise. So, I e-mailed them an unofficial transcript, to which they replied my application was going to committee that week. I was NOT referring to the standard computer generated e-mail that confirms that your application was complete.

in regards to the "what class mark is required" question, it is made clear in the Graduate Prospectus that Cambridge only accept people who have achieved 1sts. If you are not predicted a 1st, you are probably unlikely to get an offer. And any conditonal offer is bound to be that you get a 1st (this is an official requirment they added (I think) 2 years ago because of the huge number of people applying). This even applies to people applying to stay on at Cambridge (although I think slightly less strictly, since a girl at my college last year just missed out on a 1st and was still given a place).

Oh, so in terms of "class rank", I'd imagien you need to be in at least the top 10% or so.

It does also mention that a high 2.1, with a distinction (first) from a Masters will do as well.

Dear all, nice meeting you here!
I was informed of a conditional offer in my self-service page in Mid -Feburary. But till now, I haven't received the official letter mailed to me from Cambridge. The self service said,"please be patient as it might take a while to arrive". Could you please tell me "a while" may take how long according to your experience? Thanks a lot for your help! It is almost 3 weeks since I heard about the offer, you know. I am anxious for the letter mailed by Cam.

Congrats. May are ask where you are based? First heard that Camsis told you the offer first.

It may take 6 to 8 weeks for the official letter to arrive, but depending on where you are.
