Bristol Commercial or Soton Maritime

ahmnah

Hello,
I want to choose between Southampton Maritime and Bristol International Commercial LLM programs but I am undecided.
I want to pursue a career in the maritime field, but Bristol attracts me both in terms of world ranking and employer reputation. Moreover, I can take two important courses that I would take in Bristol in Southampton. (international sale of goods and arbitration)
Am I doing wrong if I choose Southampton? What would be the right choice hamgi for a legal career in England?
By the way, I don't care about living standards, social activities etc. My only concern is employment and career.
Thanks

neither of them would help you as much as Swansea would if you are interested in maritime law and aribitration. Swansea will allow you to be an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators after you do their arbitration class.

University rank will have little to attract employers on its own if you want a job in maritime law. They're cutthroat places who want people with good experience and knowledge of the specialist work. Swansea is the best if you want a maritime llm and the profs there have good links with a lot maritime industry in London.

Soton's reputation is not the same as it was. Bristol is not known for maritime law. If you want a job, you have to study hard and do really well, no matter where you go, but the lecturers really tried to help me in Swansea. If it wasn't for them, i wouldn't have the job I have now.

Go for Swansea if you want to study a specialised and niched LLM, but if you have the grades and you can afford living in London, then apply to UCL. Either way, I dont think you can go wrong with one of these two.
