Hey
I graduated with a LLB from LSE this year. I had every intention of taking a gap year but, due to changed circumstances, I decided to apply for a LLM a few weeks back. I have only gotten into Birmingham so far so my question is this:
Would it be a good idea to undertake the LLM in International Commercial Law at Birmingham or taking a gap year instead? Secondly, how will it effect my job prospects ( i got a 2:2 from LSE)?
Birmingham a good choice?

To answer the question properly we'd need to know:
1) what do you want to do the year after this one? city lawyer?
2) what you have planned for the gap year? backpacking around the world would be a very different year to working as an intern at the European Commission. (Not that either is necessarily better than the other when it comes to your CV.)

to answer the first question yes i do intend on pursuing a career as a solicitor next year.
i am currently interning at a law firm and they've given me the option of continuing it till December. After that, if I take the gap year, I intend on giving the New York Bar exam

ProfessorJonathan Harris is part of the team for the LLM in Commercial Law. Google him and you see that he is one of the most prominent professors in the area.
Without a doubt is the Birmingham Law School LLM program a good choice, although it is not as highly ranked as LSE, UCL, Kings.
