I'm about 80% sure I'll be going to Oxford for the BCL this fall, and chose Wadham college as my first choice; hopefully that's where I'll wind up.

If I might be so bold, though, hjscotland, I'd like to propose a sub-thread within this one: does anyone want to have a pint once we're all in town?

Apparently J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis used to routinely attend at a pub in town called the "Eagle and Child" - doing so myself is rising on my list of priorities.

Bender - your bold suggestion is fantastic, I second that motion. Apparently that pub is referred to by locals at the Bird and Baby, so we'll have to get used to that lingo. I noted with amusement your post on Friday about (alas) receiving the acceptance prior to 9am and hence not being able to drink to celebrate, I too experienced the pang of regret associated with that moment :). I've been accepted to Camb too but I'm pretty sure I'll decide on Oxford.

I'm all in for a pint!
