I am a law student in the U.S., about to finish up my J.D.. I will receive the equivalent of 1st-class honors (top 20% of my class) from a top 50 U.S. law school, and received 1st class honors as an undergraduate (in History)
I've spent my law school and undergraduate summers working for either an investment bank (1 summer business side, 1 summer legal) in New York, or for a large English firm (splitting between their New York and London offices).
As an American, I have absolutely no idea as to my chances of gaining entry to U.K. programs. I have applied to most of The Time's top 10 programs - any help/insight on whether I should be apply to more programs (am I shooting to high?) would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

For what it's worth, first-class honors usually equate to top 10%, rather than top 20%. Are you applying for LLMs? I wish I had some information to impart, but my own experience is with PhD/DPhil applications.

A first class UK degree normally equates to a US GPA of 3.7 or above.

Thanks. Good to know - I hadn't been able to find that info anywhere. I've got a 3.6, and am around the 14th percentile in my class...so I guess I'm high second class?
Either way, any insight on whether I am grossly underqualified would be very much appreciated.
