Admission chances LL.M.

Hi guys :)

Currently considering an application to UK law schools, I was wondering how my chances are. I'd be happy to get to study in London (UCL/KCL) but also want to try my luck with Oxbridge (just in case).

I've finished my Bachelor's degree in Switzerland as 3rd of about 150 in my class, making me top 2%. But my overall marks are only 5.23/6 [whereas >5.5 is generally considered first-class]. So, technically I'm far from a first. Still, Cambridge's constant mention of top 10% makes me wonder if...

Extracurricular: Working as a research assistant, internships at two top law firms and a court, strong military record.

What's your opinion? Oxbridge application a waste of money? Would I even stand a chance at UCL/KCL?

Thank you very much for every bit of feedback.

I'm not entirely sure what 5.23/6 correlates to (maybe you could tell me whether it is a 1st/2:1 or the percentage if known) but I would say that you shouldn't have a problem with UCL or KCL. As for Oxford and Cambridge, everything you have going for you is really good - your class rank and internships. Depending on what the 5.23 equates to, I would say you might as well apply!

Thanks for your opinion (and encouragement). In Switzerland the grades go from 1 to 6, whereas 6 is the highest. Generally - as there is no official or sacrosanct source - I guess everything >5.5 would be a first-class. So from that perspective I'd only be upper 2:1. But then, I got told UK universities rely on top percentages much more than on grades.
