Hey everybody. I just received my TOEFL scores.
I got 105. Reading 27, Listening 28, Speaking 29 and Writing only 21.
I need at least 25 in writing for HLS and 24 for CLS. Anyone any advice what do to? Since I scored very well in the other 3 sections I wonder if I should re-take the test??
THX for any help xx

Hello,
The TOEFL writing part is a matter of method. You should create an answer pattern/structure that you may use for any possible question.
For instance:
1.introduction
2.point of view 1
3. point of view 2 (opposite)
4.conclusion
Use linking words.
In any event, I would not retake the test but that depends on your specific english language proficiency background.
Regards and good luck

Since your over-all score is good, they may most likely disregard the deficiency in your writing score. You may better send them e-mail making a pointed enquiry.

hi everyone, how long does it take before you receive your toefl score (I took my test one week ago)?
Thanks.
ps: I thought the test was not that easy...

Thanks everybody for the answers. I decided not to re-take the TOEFL.
The scores are available mostly 2 or 3 weeks after the test. You can go to the toefl homepage and check the exact date in the "get scores" section.

I would advice you to ask for a rescoring of the W section. They charge you $60, but if your grade changes they reimburse it (or that's what people say...). Maybe you won't get a 25 from a 21, but a 23-24 will make your case for not retaking it quite strong - as it is, I would retake it. Good luck!
