Hi all!
I would like to have the opinion of Cambridge admits and alumni.
I intend to apply to Cambridge next year and I already have a very good score on the internet-based TOEFL (well above the prescribed minimum).
I do not know the IELTS very much and thus I am uncertain on whether I could get a score comparable to the one I have in the TOEFL (for which I undertook a specialized preparation).
Is there any of you who submitted a TOEFL score and got admitted? Do you know whether TOEFL takers are somewhat disadvantaged vis-à-vis IELTS takers?
Would in your opinion my submission of a TOEFL score be in any way considered disfavourably by admission officers?
Thank you very much for your answers!

Hi, the IELTS has been developed by the University of Cambridge, so that's probably one of the reasons why they prefer it. However, they explicitly state that they also accept the TOEFL where the IELTS is not available. Honestly, I really don't think that they ever check whether the latter is the case. A friend of mine also applied with the TOEFL and got in. I am pretty sure that there will absolutely be NO disadvantages for people who apply with a TOEFL, especially since you have already taken the test. You could call the Board of Graduate Studies to verify this, but I am pretty positive on that.
However, please be aware of the fact that your test must not be older than two years!

Thank you very much, Dutchman!
That is very good news indeed for me!
No problem with the TOEFL score, which will be 18 months old in November.

You're welcome. Please note, however, that this is only my personal impression and experience. If you want to be absolutely sure, then you should perhaps contact the Board of Graduate Studies.
Btw, here's the link to the site where they say that they accept the TOEFL where the IELTS is not available (you'll probably already know it):
