Hi,
Can anyone please tell me what happens if you don't meet the minimum toefl requirement? My toefl score is 99 (reading - 18, speaking - 26, listening - 27 and writing 28), whereas the minimum requirement for most colleges is 100. I am from india and have been working with a law firm for the last 2 years. Can I ask for a waiver now?
Also, if I have a good overall profile but don't meet the minimum toefl requirement, what are the chances of my profile being considered for admissions? How does the process work, does the admission committee look at the toefl score first and reject your application out right if you don't meet the toefl requirement.
Suggestions, responses are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have a similar problem i.e. my score is 94 in toefl - reading 23 marks, speaking - 23 marks, listening - 23 marks and writing- 25 marks. I have completed my law degree in English and have already sent my score to 4 law schools. Can I still ask for waiver from these law school and if not from these then from other law schools I am planning to apply?

I do not have personal experience on this matter but from I have read it seems that one or two points missing is not a big issue if you have strong credentials. However, it is not the same missing 1 or 2 points in speaking or even in writing than missing in reading... as far as I know, there are a lot of reading stuff in the LLM so, Law schools pay more attention to that particular section..
why dont you retake the toelf? I did once and got 95, then I did it againg and got it 105 (28 L, 27W, 27R and 23S).. and even with this score I might have some troubles in some law schools (which requiere a minimun of 25 each section).
So, my suggestion is retake the exam, you will improve your score and secured your application.

Hi Harsha,
Thank you for responding. Why do you say that it will be a big problem if I ask for a waiver and if the universities name was mentioned in the toefl list? If I get a waiver, will they not simply reject my toefl score?
