HLS: TOEFL score not ready

andrew13

Dear all,

although my overall TOEFL ibt score was quite good (110 of 120), I missed to achieve the 25 points in the writing section, scoring only 24 due to a terrible headache. HLS asks for an overall score of 100, with 25 on each subsection.
Now, it would not cause me any problem to do the test again and achieve the minimum requirement of 25 in the writing section. BUT: I would not have the scores ready before the application deadline on 1 Dec 07. Any experience with such a case?

Thanks a lot in advance,

A13

Dear all,
I also have the same problem, I got 108 total and only 23 on listening. Will this exclude me from being eligible? Should I apply anyway or is it a waste of time and money?
Thank you so much in advance,
Sassi

I quote from the Harvard LLM FAQ:

"8. My TOEFL score is 3 (10, 20, etc.) points lower than the minimum score required for the LL.M. Program. Is that okay?
No. Applicants must achieve at least a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based test, 250 on the computer-based test, or 100 on the internet-based test (if you take the internet-based test, you must also have a minimum score of 25 on each subsection) to be eligible for admission to the LL.M. Program.
9. May I submit my application with a low TOEFL score, retake the TOEFL and submit a new score? Will you consider my application?
Your application will still be reviewed even if your TOEFL score does not meet the minimum required by the Harvard Law School Graduate Program. However, you will be at a serious disadvantage compared to other applicants whose TOEFL scores meet our required minimum and who have sent their scores to us by the deadline. Applicants may always retake the TOEFL and have your score sent to us as soon as possible."

I hope the above questions and answers are helpful

You could also browse the ETS website. If you pay some more money, they correct your paper earlier. I just don't know how earlier they do this, but I think it's worth checking it out.

Good luck.
