which MA transnational crime and justice ?

luckyluke

I don't have an academic background in law. I wish to study human rights, transnational crime and justice in the context of the less explored actus reus of the ICC, such as trafficking, sexual violence and even corruption.

The various specialised LLM's I found all require a foundational degree in law at least. I'm stuck with academics up to an international masters in a different, unrelated, field.

Anyone knows of a Master's program in transnational crime and justice which would be open for non legal scholars?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hey Luke!
Have you checked the LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice from UNICRI? I was doing some research and I did come across them and their curricula was very interesting. I have a degree in political science and from their website it seems that it is not exclusively for law graduates.
Hope this helps!

Hello Coni,
Thank you for your suggestion!
Based on UNICRI's documentation I thought the same as you, and applied to UNICRI for the LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice a few months back.
I hold an international MSc by an international organisation, for which about 20% of the subjects are international law related.
UNICRI rejected my application on the grounds of insufficient law background. They say that while they are open to people from other backgrounds, for admission to UNICRI you need a degree with "substantial" law contents. 20% weight in law with excellent marks and human rights defending work is not enough to be admitted to UNICRI, sadly.
So I am looking for another program. Did you encounter in your search any other programs?
