What about Columbia Executive LL.M.?

Van 2022

I have just received an email from CLS today.

They say that they recommend me to apply to an Executive LL.M. because I am also eligible for that program thanks to my professional career.

In addition, they emphasize that my application to the traditional LL.M. would not be influenced by applying to the Executive LL.M at all.

However, I am not sure what is the exact meaning and why they offer me. I don't understand what they mean exactly. Would it be an automatically sending letter? I am a little concerned that they would not give me traditional LL.M. admission., OR it would mean that I am not a competetive candidate for traditional LL.M.

What do you think about it?

I received it and all of my friend who have applied as well. Probably they just send it to everyone who meets the criteria!

I got accepted to this LLM but waitlisted for the traditional one..how could it be? I am worried they are forcing me to accept this LLM (whereas I Would prefer to persue the traditional one). Any thoughts?

Hi! Do you have a deadline for accepting the offer for the Executive LLM?

Yeap, mid february. However, I already declined the offer.... Guess I prefer to persue a traditional LLM at Columbia (or other university of Columbia does not accept me). Such a little concern about receiving the addmited /waitlisted at the same time...

Hi, llmer1990,
I would really appreciate it if you inform all of us when did you get admitted to the traditional llm program of CLS exactly in 2019. Many thanks.

I did apply for several programs in 2019 but didn't enroll in any eventually. I applied this year again and got admission to both programs a few weeks ago.

Congrats! Do you have to choose between the two? I wonder why the decisions for the traditional llm came out so quickly...

Yes I had to choose by February 15. I guess that because I applied for both programs, and the timeline for the ellm is tight, they released decisions so that we have enough time to make decisions ourselves.

If anyone else is enrolling for the ellm let's chat
