Hi everyone,
Would letters of recommendation from professors who have taught courses unrelated to the LLM specialisation I'd want to pursue reflect badly on my LLM application?
I am currently trying to shortlist professors who could be my academic referees, and can only think of two professors who know me well enough and could vouch for my academic capabilities - my labour law/environmental law professor and my history professor. The types of LLM specialisations I would like to pursue, however, land in the areas of corporate and commercial law.
I do have 3 years of post-qualification experience working as a corporate lawyer (mainly M&A and PE) and could definitely get my senior partner to write me a letter of recommendation. But, considering the academic referee requirements for most UK universities, I was wondering whether recommendations from professors who had taught me courses extremely different from the field of law I am and would like to specialize in, would be an impediment to the application.
Any inputs would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hi azone!
I suppose, as long as they are currently associated with your uni they are eligible to provide letters of rec.
However, make sure that the letters very authentic and in a way support and add value to your profile and candidature.
Hope that helps!
Thanks
