Hello,
I am Sudarshan Lodha, a final year student doing the 3 year course from Dr. Ambedkar Law University Chennai.
I write to this forum seeking help from you'll with regards where my profile stands for an LLM in the USA.
Intro about me:
I studied B.Com in Loyola College, Chennai, India, and scored an average 74% and right after that i enrolled in law college. While i enrolled i also worked for Royal Bank of Scotland in their Legal and Compliance department. I had morning college and the job was from afternoon. i worked there for 7 months and eventually i quit. Soon after which i was interning in various firms and advocates. In November 2012 i was bitten by Entrepreneurship and I started www.yourstartupsolutions.com, a law firm focusing only on startups. Been running it since then and have clocked significant revenues touching nearly INR 2.5 million in the one and a half year of Operations with clients like IIT-madras, IIT-Kharagpur, Etc. I have now roped in my sister who is an advocate as Managing Partner and also have 2 attorneys and a Company Secretary working full time in the organisation. However, While running the venture i couldn't concentrate much on my work on my studies and ended up getting few arrears and also my percentage is just 48% (the maximum this college gives is 55-60%). My partner and I both think that i should study further, specialise on corporate and technology laws which would help me in my organisation and its growth aspects.
Now the question i would like to Post in this group is, What are my chances based on my profile to do an LLM in either Harvard, Columbia, Stanford or Yale? I have chosen these colleges not because they rank high, but because they also nuture entrepreneurship, eg,. Stanford's CodeX.
Any kind of help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
P.S: I also am a director and a shareholder in a organisation which is now a VC funded organisation. The client chose to pay us in shares :)
Top law school usually require you to be in at least top 10% of your generation but it might be different of you manage to explain adequately why you took time off from studying and what impacted on your grades...

I agree. As with other threads of similar nature, it is all about tailoring your application and explaining how your particular circumstances and credentials make you fit in your desired course or program. All the best!

Just heard from a friend he got accepted from a waiting list at one of the top 15 universities in US, despite being in top 25% of his graduating class in his LLB.... if you tailor your application correctly - anything is possible...
